Okamoto Festival Ballet has held a festival of ballet every year since 1980. Typically the festival is held over two nights, usually in late June or early July. It is now in its 38th year.

In the first year of the festival Stephen Jeffries of the Royal Ballet, England, was the guest star.

Okamoto Festival Ballet is not a standing company. We invite many dancers for important roles from overseas and from Tokyo.

On occasions we have invited a whole company - such as in the early 1980's when we invited the company "Dancers" with Dennis Wayne and again when we invited the "Crow's Nest Dance Company".

Over the years we have been fortunate enough to have had as guest stars dancers of the calibre of David Hallberg (2004), Guillaume Cote (2005), Stephen Jeffries (1980), Alexei Tyukov (2011), Robert Curran (2005), Sandra Brown (2004), Nehemiah Kish (2011), Alexander Gamayunov (2008), Janelle Cooke (2008), Jeremy Collins (1995), Vanessa Zahorian (2005), Wes Chapman (1998) and Jamie Vargas (2008), among others. [You can see a full list here]

In 2019 we look forward to welcoming Ty King-Wall (Principal: Australian Ballet), Harrison James (Principal: The National Ballet of Canada), Denise Parungao (Principal: Ballet Philippines) and Earl John Arisola (Principal: Ballet Philippines)

We are always looking for exciting dancers to work with us as guest artists - whether principal, soloist, dancer or corps-de-ballet.

If you think you might be interested in working with us, please get in touch.
